Lanford Monroe Memorial Artist-in-Residence Sculptor George Bumann

10:00am - 3:00pm. A naturalist in the classical tradition, George Bumann’s artwork reflects that vision. His work celebrates the endless intricacies and diversity of nature, each element in itself being worth the journey of discovery. Bumann has degrees in wildlife ecology and has taught natural history and art programs to audiences of all ages, including programs in Yellowstone National Park. He is a member of the Society of Animal Artists; his work is in collections throughout the United States and England, including the NMWA’s permanent collection and in the private collection of the Deputy Superintendent of Yellowstone National Park (retired). Bumann lives in Gardiner, Montana, at the northern entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Free.

Anne MacDougall grew up in Connecticut. As an artist, her work has included illustrating marine biology books and designing educational exhibits. She has also worked in advertising, as a graphic designer, both in the USA and Australia. It was through her travels during a 17-year circumnavigation of the world by sailboat that she acquired her collections of indigenous art. She acquired her primary collection of Aboriginal art during her five years living and traveling in the Northern Territory of Australia. Concurrently, she organized gallery and educational exhibits in the USA and Australia. She now lives on a farm in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, with her husband and two children.

An Evening with Paul Taylor: Aboriginal Music & Storytelling

7:00pm. Paul Taylor is an Australian storyteller, didgeridoo player, and traveler from Adelaide, South Australia. Taylor’s interest in the Aboriginal culture of his own country was born from time spent as a social worker among the Aboriginal people in outback Australia’s Northern Territory in the early 80s. It was at this time he was introduced to the wonderful tradition of storytelling and the music of the didgeridoo, one of the world’s oldest musical traditions. Recordings include: Cooee, Walkabout, Matilda & the Dreamtime, and Doo Bee Doo. National awards include: NAPPA Gold Award, Parent’s Choice Gold Award, and Storytelling World. Free for members or $10 non-members; Rising Sage Café will be open for dining.

Artists' Retreat at Rimrock Ranch

We welcome artists of all media and skill levels to take part in a relaxing, but invigorating retreat at the Rimrock Ranch, located just west of Cody, Wyoming, and just east of Yellowstone National Park. This historic ranch was originally the location of artist Frank Tenney Johnson’s Wyoming studio. The welcoming staff at the Ranch provide all meals, comfortable lodging, heated pool, and a congenial atmosphere for an all-inclusive price of $800 for members, $850 non-members. This popular event fills up quickly – artists are encouraged to enroll early! No formal instruction or critique sessions are offered. Limited to 20 participants. Registration required.
