The NMWA Education department is dedicated to providing exceptional educational programs to students of all ages both at the museum and through outreach programs. Connections between people, wildlife and fine art are central themes to educational programming at the NMWA. Learn about art history, American History, conservation, wildlife, biology, ecology, and cultural anthropology in our multidisciplinary programs. The NMWA encourages artistic creation by organizing student art contest and exhibits.
The on-site programs connect our collection to a wide variety of other disciplines and are developed for grade levels pre-K through 12. Most lessons involve pre and post visit activities, in addition to a museum visit. Visit the museum for other educational events such as workshops and special performances. Additionally, the NMWA Online programs are educational resources uniquely designed for the web. These interdisciplinary lessons utilize our wildlife art collections to inspire a deeper understanding of other subject areas. Our traveling trunks bring the NMWA to you. Teachers borrow these popular resources free of charge for classroom use. We are proud hosts of the Federal Junior Duck Stamp competition for the state of Wyoming. We provide workshops, contest information and exhibit young winners. Adults benefit from the NMWA arts education as well through our Adult Education programs. Graduate students can participate in Internship programs. Films, symposiums and educational workshops stimulate continued learning for all ages. Our special thanks to the William Randolph Hearst Foundation and to Robert Piros, who in memory of his wife, Helen O. Piros, generously sponsor our educational programs and interactive kiosks. These programs are also sponsored in part by our Business Members |
