  • This event has passed.

FREE to Museum members and included in the cost of general admission.
This is an exciting opportunity to preview a new exhibit, Above the Clouds: Art of the Alpine, prior to its public opening.

Meet in the Wapiti Gallery at the National Museum of Wildlife Art.

This bilingual (English-Spanish) exhibit is a collaboration between the National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson Hole community members, and regional artists.
Associate Curator of Education Julia Spencer will introduce the program, giving insight into how this exhibit came together and why the alpine ecosystem is so important. Included in the exhibit are works of art by 36 regional artists, an in-gallery screening of our new Bisoncast video episode, Above the Clouds, and a community cliff installation showcasing paper alpine flowers made by community members and Museum visitors.
Guest speaker Laney, whose painting Alpine Rain Water is in the exhibit will talk about her painting as well as others in the exhibit.

Laney, Alpine Rainwater, 2012. Oil on gesso board, 24 x 18 inches.

About the Speaker:

Laney
“As a naturalist wildlife artist, my painting centers on the connection between all the intricate and interconnected parts of the world in which we live. Living in northwest Wyoming, I focus on the high mountain meadows, forests and sagebrush flats of the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. I paint the whole spectrum of regional landforms, the plants and even the individual personalities of the birds and animals that inhabit my world. They are my friends and equals in the net of life and time. My book, To See beyond Looking: A Visual Journey in Art and Nature, was released in June of 2016.”
