Graduate Internships

Gain enriching hands-on experiences in museum studies through a summer internship with NMWA.

Available Internships

The National Museum of Wildlife Art Education Department offers a museum internship for individuals interested in gaining better knowledge and hands-on experience in museum studies.

We are currently accepting applications for our NMWA Education Internship for Summer 2025.

Education Internship

$7,680 stipend for a 12-week internship, plus up to $4,500 for housing assistance for out-of-town candidates to offset Jackson’s high rental costs. Please note that taxes will be deducted from both the internship stipend and housing allowance.

This is a challenging internship for a graduate-level student interested in the field of museum education. The internship includes:
• Managing Open Studio sessions
• Developing educational programming
• Engaging diverse audiences
• Facilitating program assessments
• Completing a self-selected project

Applicants with experience in informal teaching, public programming, film, or design are encouraged to apply. Exhibition assessment experience is a plus.

Application Procedure

Applicants of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The candidate may arrange for academic credit through his/her college or university. The Museum will provide letters of reference and necessary documentation as required by the institution. It is the responsibility of the candidate to provide his/her own transportation and housing during the duration of the internship.

The preferred period of the internship will be 12 continuous weeks, but no less than eight continuous weeks. The pre-agreed term of the internship will take into consideration the individual circumstances of the intern. The internships should begin by June 15.

Selected candidates will be notified by mid-March, 2025.

There are no application forms. Application letters should be typed and must include the following:

  • Current resume of education and employment, including list of art history and other relevant courses taken, and foreign languages spoken and/or written

  • Two letters of recommendation from professors, employers, or supervisors
