Call for Fiber and Textile Art Submissions for A Conceptual Thread at the National Museum of Wildlife Art

January 22, 2025

Jackson, WY: The National Museum of Wildlife Art (NMWA) invites fiber and textile artists to submit artwork for the upcoming exhibition A Conceptual Thread. This show features various types of textile art—quilting, weaving, tapestry, and knitting—each showcasing its unique ability to tell stories about wildlife and nature. This exhibition explores the meditative nature of textile and fiber arts and connects to the themes of hope and resiliency, balancing beauty with the harsh realities of the world. The pieces selected will be displayed in the Wapiti Gallery alongside textile artworks from the permanent collection and pieces on loan during the summer and fall of 2025. Exhibiting artists include Dawn Williams Boyd and Cauleen Smith.

Building on the success of our 2024 community-curated exhibition, the 2025 iteration will engage the community by displaying various textile art forms, while also incorporating community contributions. The exhibit will not only highlight the work of professional artists, but will also actively involve local residents and Museum visitors by inviting them to participate in a communal tapestry, fostering a deeper connection between the community, the art, and the Museum.
